Bald Leadership

Bald Leadership is just not about our “hair-styles”! It’s about having authentic, bold and frank discussions about what is really needed to grow into an impactful leader regardless of who you are. It’s about “Inspiring, curating and supporting the next generation of leadership” in business, sport, political and social fields. Get used to laughing a bit with humour and story telling, grounded in the research of others. This is the foundation of our show and dialogues. Through discussions with other leaders, authors, and researchers, we uncover hidden truths about developing as a better leaders in a time when leadership is needed most... always with a touch of fun.

Thursday Jul 04, 2024
Jayne Mallin is a real professional as well as a real person. She’s got an amazing personal life story that took from suddenly finding herself as a single Mom to getting herself through law school, and now leading a 174 person team of committed professionals as Chief Executive Officer of Legal Aid Saskatchewan. We talked about purpose, laughing at self, and the challenges of managing oneself. This is one of our favourites!

Kerry Joseph - “It’s NOT about ME“
Tuesday Jul 02, 2024
Tuesday Jul 02, 2024
It was fun getting back together with KJ and having him share again with us. As a Saskatchewan Roughrider great, Kerry Joseph not only led the team to a Grey Cup win, he left a model of leadership for entire league.
Yes, we talked about his journey as a player to an assistant positional coach with Seattle Seahawks to now the quarterback coach with the legendary Chicago Bears. Amongst all the laughs, he shares deeply about the positive leadership impact of his late father (and we all teared up a bit).

Thursday Jun 27, 2024
Well, this was a cool one. Valerie Sluth is really well known as founder of Saskatchewan based Praxis Consulting, Saskatchewan’s largest independently owned management and strategy consultancy firm. She’s also a super engaged community member who has led chambers of commerce, been a student coach, and inspirer of female entrepreneurs. She also has nice hair (we might be a touch jealous).

Constable Steve Watkins, RCMP - “The Joy is in the Discipline”
Wednesday Jun 19, 2024
Wednesday Jun 19, 2024
Contrary to popular belief, guests are not actually required to be bald to be on the show (it’s only a joke). Well, Steve took things seriously and, well…came bald!
Even with the fun, Steve dives deep into the reasons why he and his wife started @RealCopsReelLife (see links below) and their desire to support first responder families in terms of the physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. Their channel literally supports thousands across Canada!!
This was an engaging conversation where Steve shares his own past personal struggles and triumphs. We talked about family, haircuts and Collin’s near brushes with the law (again).

As the Former Chief of Police for the Regina Police Services, and now host of the Evan Bray Show, Evan shares a cool story… he started in radio, moved into police services and 30 years later, he’s back to radio again (what’s old in new again??).
Evan shared his life’s journey through leadership from a young student leader (with a couple mess ups), to the joys and personal challenges of leading a modern police service during difficult social situations. Evan comments on Kavis’ shoes and helps comfort Collin following his “interesting” airport pat down experience (you don’t want to miss this).
We laughed and learned…really appreciate this guy!

Shannon Friesen, CEO - The Very Reluctant Leader
Tuesday Jun 11, 2024
Tuesday Jun 11, 2024
Shannon was an awesome guest! She shared her first story of leadership when she met a young autistic child and learning how to connect with her. Little did she know that interaction would lead down a path to where she was pushed (and supported) into leadership.
Shannon has since been the lead executive for organizations as the Autism Society, Fire Chief Association, YWCA, Saskatoon Construction Association and co-leading 5 associations through transformation. Pretty cool!
While we spend an inordinate amount of time on shoes, we also hear of her personal passion, painful experiences, and transformations in her leadership. This is pretty motivating. Kavis quotes poetry…

Tony is the CEO of Regina & District Chamber of Commerce and joins us in the studio to share his journey through leadership but mostly what he’s learned from other community leaders to be able to do what he does now.
Having a start in communications, he met community leaders who demonstrated how to lead during tough times. This was a wonderful episode to open our season.
P.S. Tony shows Collin and Kavis how to match shoes to shirt.
